Custom Stationery Shoot - Citrus Press Co.

We are so excited to share this beautiful custom stationery shoot with you!   Our stationery mockups are intended for designers to overlay their products and have a professional, polished look for their customers.  The layouts are styled with the end result in mind...a classic, simple, and pretty layout to showcase the star of the show--the designs.

Sarka, the owner of Citrus Press Co. had purchased a few of our stationery layouts on Etsy, and contacted us to make several custom layouts for her gorgeous botanical stationery designs.  They are slightly non-traditional in design, and her focus is on color, the use of natural elements and modern yet elegant fonts.  Check out her website here!

Her work has been featured/published in The Knot, BRIDES, Wedding Bells Canada, Coastal Weddings and The Celebration Society – Weddings Edition, as well as on Minted and featured on many popular wedding blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Ruffled, Green Wedding Shoes, Swooned, Brooklyn Bride to name a few.  The opportunity to work with such an amazing stationery designer was one we were just soooooo excited about!

Custom flatlay artwork is special because it's truly one of a kind and exclusive to the client.  She had specific needs for layouts and colorways, and decided on three distinct looks for us to create.   In addition, she wanted some simple layouts for Instagram.

Her collection of custom stationery mockups would include a cream background with blush accents, a cream background with tropical accents, and a grey background with cream accents.  Here is the vision board we created for the proposal:

To prepare for the shoot, we needed an idea of what stationery layouts she wanted, as well as what items she wanted included in the pictures.  Custom jobs require the client to send us anything they have that can make the pictures unique to their business, and we then supplement the designs with items from our prop library.

Sarka sent us a variety of plates, ribbon, ring boxes, trinket dishes (Jennie's favorite thing, by the way!), stamps, and stationery pieces to use, as well as a super helpful document of what layouts she wanted.  Each design would include a white envelope and a kraft paper envelope, to give her extra options.   She also sent a few of her completed sets of wedding stationery designs for us to touch and feel, and get a sense of her finished product.

During our branded head shot shoot in April, we were able to snag a few images of her pretty stationery!

Below are the results of this custom stationery shoot, and we hope you love them as much as we do!  This image was snapped during light testing.

Here is the blush and cream set.  The peonies and the buttercup ranunculus were soft and perfect for these images.

The gray background on this next set really made the creamy florals pop, and the minimal gold accents give it such a classy look!  And that soft ribbon...Jennie was totally on her game that day with the ribbon styling.

Here is how Citrus Press Co. used one of the gray layouts to overlay her designs:

Next up are the tropical stationery layouts.  Citrus Press Co. does a ton of destination wedding invitations, and she wanted elements like monstera leaves to give it that tropical feel.  We found the pin cushion protea, monstera leaves, and dried lemons at a local florist and knew they would be wonderful for this set.  The orchids also gave the layouts a very tropical feel with their unique pretty are they!?

The Instagram layouts allowed us to mix up the styling a bit with all the props that were sent to us.  Here are a few of our favorites:

Sarka got creative with a couple of the Instagram designs and combined them in Photoshop for a different layout.  That's the beauty of custom work...clients can take what we provide and combine images or crop them to get more layouts!  Here are the original two designs:

And here is how she combined the two with a little bit of Photoshop magic!

Sarka was especially happy with the simple styling and black backgrounds for these Instagram designs.  These were shot with natural light to give them a bit of a different look from the others.

We are so thankful for our custom clients who trust us to create unique flatlay artwork for them.  Please leave us comments or questions below and tell us what you think about this custom stationery mockup shoot!
